Sculpture Gallery
I enjoy working in range of materials and find myself drawn to the unique properties and challenges of each. While concrete is not very sculptural-friendly, much like working with cold mud, once the material begins to set it becomes possible to shape pieces that can also be carved and chiselled. The strength of concrete offers a durability not found in most materials and has the added benefit of being able to be used for outdoors pieces. In contrast is the delicate quality of plasticine. It is not necessarily used for permanent work but offers a lot of potential for small sculptures. A soft and malleable material, it is highly versatile for a range of marks and because it does not need any drying time, it is easy to set-up and use anywhere. The gallery also includes wire sculptures - some pieces are silhouettes on a wood base and others weaved. Wire offers a whimsical quality much like drawing in space.
